Miniature Set & Prop Building - Behind the Scenes slideshow

For those that don’t know me, I’d like to share that I have always been a special effects and animation enthusiast. After I graduated film school I was influenced by many industry professionals those among prop builders, art directors and the original animation pioneer himself, Ray Harryhausen. And although it may take years to master any cinematic craft to make an appearance on the silverscreen, I’ve managed to apprehend the start of my 10,000 hours of practice by creating amateur garage films that went absolutely nowhere, but I just enjoyed making.

In 2009 I began my journey by taking apart random electronics purchased from local thrift stores. I started kit-bashing spaceships and miniature sets, choreographing action scenes on greenscreens and compositing them all together into one sequence. I did the same with my photography utilizing custom backgrounds for my models. Every set I eventually made, I aimed to produce better than the last.

Here’s my behind the scenes presentation of how I did it. Thanks for your time and hope you enjoy!
